Routinely racking in millions of views per video, Hunter Hancock’s been busy at the helm of his popular YouTube animation channel MeatCanyon.
MeatCanyon cartoons are often parodies of preexisting intellectual property. The way he distorts, subverts, and hi-jacks familiar faces is reminiscent of Rick and Morty’s own bastardization of Back to the Future. During an interview on DoubleToasted, Hancock explained:
“I make funny animations for YouTube…drawing on nostalgia and other parts of peoples childhoods. [I ] distort them, in ways, for various emotional responses, whether it be horror or depression or something along those lines ”
Hancock’s original and parody creations are frequently grotesque, idiosyncratic, and NSFW. His auteur animations seem to follow in the footsteps of Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland’s animations done under the RoilandTV banner.
